Learning Observed
|
The group of girls, Taanvi, Kavisha, Jasmine and Anjli, worked collaboratively together to make this fundraising event a success. They raised money for hospice and PE equipment. It was quite an involved iExplore and it was great to observe the girls work through and negotiate the conflicts that arose along the way. It was great to see Jasmine take charge of the spreadsheet where they connected with maths in determining how much of each ingredient they needed to make the quantity of batches they wanted to sell. There was valuable learning in this process especially when the girls, Anjli in particular, realised that everything cost a lot more than they initially thought! They realised that this was a huge job and elicited the help of two other learners- Aleena and Ash, who were very helpful, collaborative and supportive- though with the six of them in the kitchen it got a touch noisy! On the day of the sale, the girls had help from Mrs Doidge and Mr Dyer and the lines were literally out the door. There was some excellent forethought in having learners pre-order so they could anticipate how much of everything to make. Through this process the girls learned how to use the iExplore Leanring Model document to track their progress and receive feedback to grow their capabilities and connect all of their learning.

My procedural writing week 2
How to make a desk without tools
What you need:
1. (T) pipe
2. Elbow
3. 12 inch pipe
4. 24 inch pipe
5. Plywood
Method:
First grab two 12 inch pipe and a (T). Screw the (T) with the two 12 inch pipe and make three more for the legs.
Then use an elbow piece and screw it in on the top of the piece that we just made and do the same to others.
Get two of the legs and a 24 inch pipe. Connect the 24 inch pipe with the elbows and do the same with the other two.
After that get two more 12 inch pipes and attach the two leg with the (T) that we joint in the beginning. Tighten it so we can make it into a base.
Finally add the plywood on the top and there we go.
A little suggestion is that when you are trying to make a small desk, in step three use a smaller pipe to adjust it to the right wideness. If you want it to be more pretty for a girl or boy you can spray paint it with whatever colour you like.
I have chosen do copy and paste my procedural writing so you can see how easy it is to make a desk with only 5 materials.

Halloween and my birthday
My birthday is on Halloween day! It is the best thing that has happened to me. When I was small I didn't know what Halloween was until I grew up. Halloween is very fun for me since I get lollies and present. But sometimes I think it is more of my birthday then Halloween. This year I would like to balance it out so that we could still celebrate Halloween. Still we will mix things a bit like buy Halloween coloured balloons and spooky table clothes but my rooms will be completely spooky. It's good to have your birthday on a special day because you get a variety of food and treats. One of the things I would make this year would be ghosts meringue, mummy cake pops, carving pumpkins and my most favourite, my mums home made apple crumble. It is a good idea to make red velvet cupcakes to get into a spooky spirit. I love to celebrate Halloween in these ways what about you?

Diwal is coming up
Diwal is important for me but it's really fun.One of my fravirote thing
about Diwali is that I get to decorate the house and make
sweet. I would like to make rangoli but I've never really made rangoli
patterns and I wish I would get a opportunity to do so. But when I see
rangoli it makes me feel happy and delighted. It makes me feel that way
because I see how hard everyone is working and I see that they are doing
it nicely. I like to go to other people's house and last year I went to my friends
house which was fun.
